The Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) Communications/Information Resource Specialist for an Entry Level position headquartered in
The person will be involved with GSWCC’S Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Program. The incumbent will function as a Resource Specialist within an upcoming Section 319(h) project. In that capacity incumbent will update existing and develop new media and educational materials on both a Statewide and local level. This position will also be responsible for media releases, updating existing materials for electronic publication, developing new materials for distribution Statewide, and updating and maintaining portions of GSWCC’s website.
B.S. in Public Relations, Communications, or other related degree, or five years of previous experience in Public Relations is required. Knowledge of agriculture and natural resources is preferred but not essential. Farm background is advantageous.
Individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in other design software is needed. Candidate must be able to communicate with persons of varying social and economic backgrounds.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Updating existing publications
- Developing media releases and publications for upcoming projects
- Assisting 6 regional offices and 40 conservation districts in advertising upcoming events
- Ensuring that program information on website remains current
- Developing website articles promoting existing and upcoming Agency projects and achievements
- Developing and distributing an Agency e-newsletter at least quarterly
- Attending PR events to represent Agency
This is a temporary part-time position funded by a Section 319(h) grant of the Clean Water Act administered by U.S. EPA.
