Current Section 319 Water Quality Cost Share Projects
Upper Satilla River Basin
Upper Broad River Watershed
Upper Ochlockonee River Basin
The Upper Satilla River Basin TMDL Implementation Project is a 5-year project made possible through Section 319(h) funding in the Clean Water Act. GSWCC will work with landowners to develop nutrient management plans and to install best management practices (BMPs) that will reduce water quality degradation. The Upper Satilla River Basin TMDL Implementation Project includes portions of Atkinson, Bacon, Ben Hill, Coffee, Irwin, Jeff Davis, and Ware counties.

Available BMPs for installation include:
- Stack Houses
- Livestock Exclusion Fencing
- Stream Crossings
- Field Borders
- Filter Strips
- Riparian Forest Buffers
- Riparian Herbaceous Cover
- Alternative Water Supplies
- Water Troughs/Tanks
- Solid Waste Separators
- Waste Storage Ponds
- Winter Feeders
- Animal Waste Distribution Systems
Landowner contracts are one-year contracts. Landowners assume all initial costs and are reimbursed upon final completion and inspection of the installed practices at a 60% cost share rate. A higher cost share is available for buffers greater than 15 feet in average width. Every landowner that contracts with GSWCC is required to have a nutrient management plan. GSWCC will assist landowners in completing these plans.
Anyone interested in participating in the Upper Satilla River Basin TMDL Implementation Project should contact the Project Coordinator or the State Office Rural Water Resources Program.
