This interactive tool allows irrigators to assist in the management of one of Georgia most precious natural resource. Providing the ability to record on the farm water use and compare this usage to subbasin totals will give the producer a benchmark to evaluate their irrigation efficiencies. Helping update wetted acreage under irrigation systems under their management will provide the State with an accurate accounting of what is currently being irrigated. Improving their knowledge on soil textures and classifications on a field level will help irrigation scheduling and may reduce the amount of irrigation water applied. Farmers will also have the capability to report individual water flow meter readings and crop information during the growing season. The farmers input and interaction plays a vital role to ensure that their personal data is correct and up to date as possible.
Managing and conserving water for the future is the goal of the Irrigator Gateway. The more the farmers interact the better their data will be. By working together we will protect the right of agriculture to continue to use water wisely. Promoting a stronger agriculture sector will ensure that Georgia will continue to be a leader in natural resource management.
