BMP Methods and Standards Grant

The Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control in Georgia contains standards and specifications that are followed and practiced throughout the State of Georgia.  The manual was first published in1975 and since that time has undergone five revisions, with the last revision occurring in 2001.  Chapter six of the manual focuses on the standards and specifications for planning, design and installation of erosion and sediment control measures.

The Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) has received 319 grant funding that will allow the agency to establish a process and develop procedures for accepting new BMPs and products into the manual.  By the end of this 319 project, GSWCC will have established benchmark standards for specific BMPs in the manual, which new practices will be reviewed against.

Request for skimmer specification

GSWCC is currently revising the Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control in Georgia.  As part of the revisions, GSWCC would like to expand the skimmers specification which can be found under the Temporary Sediment Basin (Sd3) best management practice.

GSWCC is seeking a qualified design/engineering firm to develop a detailed specification for skimmers. The specification should include definition, purpose, conditions, design criteria, construction specification and maintenance. The specification should also include a practice detail produced using AutoCAD.

Interested parties should send a quote with a list of qualifications and include a timeframe for which the specification will be completed. Also include past work product(s) of a similar nature.

Please send any questions and quotes with qualifications to lzdunczyk@gaswcc.org. All quotes must be received by April 22, 2013.
