Information for Current SWCD Supervisors

Through GSWCC's Conservation District Education and Outreach Program, we seek to promote increased awareness of the importance of soil & water conservation among Georgians.  By providing current natural resource information, research data, mapping systems, and soil & water resource data, we hope to give all Georgians the tools and opportunities to improve and protect the state’s generous natural resources for many years to come.

NACD Southeast Region Meeting - August 11 - 13

The National Association of Conservation Districts Southeast Region is holding its annual meeting in at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah, Ga., from August 11 - 13, 2013. Hosted by the Georgia Association of Conservation District Supervisors (GACDS), the meeting brings together representatives from soil and water conservation districts around the Southeast U.S.

Grant opportunities

The Southern Region USDA Program on Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) is offering two grant opportunities. Research and education grant. SARE is requesting pre-proposals for systems research and education activities that address issues of sustainable agriculture of current and potential importance to the region and nation. The objective of the SARE program is to enable the full spectrum of farmers and ranchers to move profitably toward production systems compatible with the concept of sustainable agriculture. 2013 graduate student grant in sustainable agriculture. The Southern Region USDA Program on Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) is requesting proposals for Graduate Student research projects that address issues of sustainable agriculture of current and potential importance to the Southern region and the nation.  Projects may last up to three years. The Southern SARE program will only consider proposals submitted, and to be conducted, by graduate full-time students (Master’s and PhD) enrolled at an accredited college or university in the Southern region.  The proposal deadline is June 3.
