Watershed Management Planning and BMP Implementation

Watershed Management Plans:

The Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission is working with local stakeholders and organizations in the Hard Labor Creek watershed to monitor impaired streams and identify sources of pollution. For a map of project area, Download this pdf file. click here!

Once monitoring is complete, a Watershed Management Plan (WMP) will be developed for this watershed using EPA’s “Handbook for Developing Watershed Plans to Restore and Protect Our Waters” and GA-EPD’s Watershed Planning Guidelines.

After the WMP is completed, Best Management Practice (BMP) implementation will begin in this area. 

Cost Share BMP Implementation Projects:

The Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission is working alongside local partners, GAEPD, and the NRCS to implement agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs) in watersheds with impaired waterways. These are cost share programs, designed provide a monetary incentive for BMP implementation. Upon completion of these contracts, farmers will be reimbursed a predetermined 60% cost estimation.
